Terms and Conditions

1. Acceptance of Terms

By registering for, purchasing tickets to, or attending MXSV (Mexico in Silicon Valley) 2026, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree to these terms, you may not register for or attend the event. These terms constitute a binding legal agreement between you and the MXSV organizers.

2. Event Information

MXSV 2026 will take place on April 4-5, 2026, at Stanford University, California, USA.

  • Event dates, times, locations, speakers, and program are subject to change without notice
  • The organizers reserve the right to modify, postpone, or cancel the event if necessary
  • Program changes, speaker cancellations, or schedule modifications do not constitute grounds for refund

3. Independent Initiative

MXSV is an independent, non-profit initiative organized by Mexican students, alumni, and professionals from Silicon Valley universities, including but not limited to Stanford University and UC Berkeley. MXSV is NOT an official event of Stanford University or any other academic institution.

The opinions and perspectives expressed by MXSV participants, speakers, faculty, organizers, sponsors, or any other involved parties represent only their own views in an individual capacity and do not represent the views or perspectives of Stanford University, UC Berkeley, or any other affiliated institution.

4. Registration and Tickets

4.1 Ticket Purchase

  • Tickets are sold on a first-come, first-served basis
  • All ticket sales are final and non-refundable
  • Ticket prices are subject to change without notice
  • Your registration constitutes acceptance of these terms

4.2 No Refund Policy

ALL TICKET SALES ARE FINAL. NO REFUNDS WILL BE ISSUED UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.

This includes but is not limited to:

  • Inability to attend due to personal reasons, illness, travel issues, or visa denial
  • Changes to the event program, speakers, schedule, or format
  • Event postponement or cancellation (see Section 5)
  • Dissatisfaction with event content or experience
  • Force majeure events (see Section 10)

4.3 Ticket Transfers

Tickets may be transferred to another individual with written approval from the organizers. To request a transfer, email info@mxsv.org with both parties' information. Transfer fees may apply.

5. Event Cancellation or Modification

The organizers reserve the right to cancel, postpone, or modify the event for any reason, including but not limited to force majeure, low registration, venue unavailability, or safety concerns.

  • In the event of cancellation, the organizers will make reasonable efforts to notify registrants
  • Refunds for cancellations are at the sole discretion of the organizers
  • The organizers are not liable for any travel, accommodation, or other costs incurred by attendees
  • Event postponement does not constitute cancellation and tickets remain valid for the new date

6. Photography, Video, and Media Rights

By attending MXSV 2026, you grant MXSV and its organizers an irrevocable, perpetual, royalty-free, worldwide license to use, reproduce, modify, publish, display, and distribute your name, likeness, image, voice, and any photographs, videos, or audio recordings in which you appear.

This license includes the right to use such materials for:

  • Promotional materials for future MXSV events
  • Social media posts and digital marketing
  • Website content and event recaps
  • Press releases and media coverage
  • Educational and archival purposes
  • Fundraising and sponsorship materials

You waive any right to inspect or approve the finished materials or to receive compensation for any such use. If you do not consent to being photographed or recorded, you must notify the organizers in writing before the event.

7. Code of Conduct

All attendees must comply with the MXSV Code of Conduct. Violation of the Code of Conduct may result in immediate expulsion from the event without refund and prohibition from future MXSV events.

8. Liability and Disclaimer

8.1 Assumption of Risk

You acknowledge that attendance at MXSV 2026 involves certain risks, including but not limited to personal injury, property damage, illness, and exposure to COVID-19 or other communicable diseases. You voluntarily assume all such risks.

8.2 Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE ORGANIZERS, SPONSORS, SPEAKERS, VOLUNTEERS, AND STANFORD UNIVERSITY SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:

  • Any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
  • Personal injury, death, or property damage
  • Lost profits, lost data, or business interruption
  • Travel or accommodation expenses
  • Theft, loss, or damage to personal property
  • Actions of other attendees or third parties

8.3 Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless MXSV, its organizers, sponsors, speakers, volunteers, and Stanford University from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, or expenses arising from your attendance at or participation in the event.

8.4 Content Disclaimer

The content, opinions, and recommendations expressed by speakers and participants are their own and do not necessarily reflect the views of MXSV or its organizers. MXSV makes no warranties about the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any information provided at the event.

9. Intellectual Property

All content presented at MXSV 2026, including presentations, materials, and recordings, are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.

  • You may not record, photograph, or reproduce any content without explicit permission
  • Unauthorized recording or distribution of event content is strictly prohibited
  • MXSV logos, branding, and materials may not be used without written permission

10. Force Majeure

The organizers shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performing obligations due to circumstances beyond their reasonable control, including acts of God, war, terrorism, civil unrest, labor disputes, government actions, natural disasters, pandemics, or failure of third-party services.

11. Privacy and Data Protection

Your personal information will be collected, processed, and stored in accordance with our Privacy Policy. By registering, you consent to the collection and use of your information as described.

12. General Provisions

12.1 Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

12.2 Dispute Resolution

Any disputes arising from these terms or the event shall be resolved through binding arbitration in Santa Clara County, California, in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association.

12.3 Severability

If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

12.4 Modifications

MXSV reserves the right to modify these Terms and Conditions at any time. Changes will be posted on the website at https://mxsv.org/terms. Your continued participation after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified terms.
