Code of Conduct

Our Commitment

MXSV (Mexico in Silicon Valley) is dedicated to providing a harassment-free, inclusive, and professional experience for all participants regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, or technology choices.

Expected Behavior

All participants are expected to:

  • Be respectful and professional in all interactions
  • Exercise consideration and empathy in speech and actions
  • Refrain from demeaning, discriminatory, or harassing behavior and speech
  • Be mindful of your surroundings and fellow participants
  • Alert conference organizers if you notice dangerous situations or someone in distress
  • Respect Stanford University campus policies and regulations
  • Comply with applicable local, state, and federal laws

Unacceptable Behavior

Unacceptable behaviors include, but are not limited to:

  • Harassment of any kind, including verbal, physical, or visual harassment
  • Intimidating, threatening, or stalking behavior
  • Discriminatory jokes, language, or imagery
  • Unwelcome sexual attention or advances
  • Deliberate intimidation or disruption of sessions
  • Inappropriate physical contact without consent
  • Sustained disruption of talks, workshops, or other events
  • Advocating for or encouraging any of the above behaviors

Photography, Video, and Media Consent

By registering for and attending MXSV 2026, you grant MXSV and its organizers the irrevocable, perpetual, worldwide right to use, reproduce, modify, publish, and distribute photographs, videos, audio recordings, and other media in which you appear for promotional, educational, and archival purposes.

This includes but is not limited to:

  • Event photography and videography during sessions, panels, workshops, and networking events
  • Social media posts on MXSV official channels (Instagram, Twitter/X, LinkedIn, Facebook)
  • Marketing materials for future MXSV events
  • Website content and promotional videos
  • Press releases and media coverage

If you do not wish to be photographed or recorded, please notify the organizers at info@mxsv.org before the event and wear the provided opt-out badge during the conference.

Consequences of Unacceptable Behavior

Participants asked to stop any unacceptable behavior are expected to comply immediately. If a participant engages in unacceptable behavior, the conference organizers may take any action they deem appropriate, including:

  • Warning the offender
  • Expulsion from the event without refund
  • Prohibition from future MXSV events
  • Reporting to Stanford University security or local law enforcement
  • Legal action if warranted

Reporting Guidelines

If you experience or witness unacceptable behavior, or have any other concerns, please report it as soon as possible:

  • Contact any MXSV organizer identified by their staff badge
  • Email: info@mxsv.org
  • Emergency on Stanford Campus: Call Stanford University Public Safety at 650-329-2413

All reports will be handled with discretion and confidentiality to the extent possible. Conference organizers will respond promptly and appropriately.

Scope

This Code of Conduct applies to all MXSV event spaces, including workshops, panels, networking events, social gatherings, and online platforms associated with the event. It also applies to behavior in public spaces when an individual is representing MXSV or its community.

Independent Initiative Disclaimer

MXSV is an independent, non-profit initiative organized by Mexican students, alumni, and professionals from Silicon Valley universities. The opinions and perspectives expressed by MXSV participants, speakers, faculty, organizers, sponsors, or any other involved parties represent only their own views in an individual capacity and do not represent the views or perspectives of Stanford University or any other affiliated institution.

This Code of Conduct is adapted from the Contributor Covenant, and event codes of conduct from leading technology conferences.
